Recycled Tire Rubber or Crumb Rubber

Vehicle tires are among the largest and most problematic sources of waste; approximately one tire is discarded per person per year. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reported that 290 million tires were scrapped in 2003. Due to the large volume of tire waste, landfills are minimizing their acceptance of used tires. Additionally, many state and local governments are looking to find new uses for discarded tires in order to address the health and environmental risks associated with the stockpiling tires.

We have applied for and received various grants from the State of California to develop manufacturing processes using recycled rubber tires. Today Three D is recognized as a leader in the manufacturer of traffic safety products using recycled rubber. We have developed a manufacturing process that integrates post-consumer molded crumb rubber into the weighted base of many of our products. The use of the cheaper crumb rubber material provides a significant cost advantage to competing products currently available in the market.

We gratefully acknowledge the financial assistance of CalRecycle in developing our extensive line of 100% Post-Consumer Recycled Rubber Bases.
